Maruti Suzuki, India’s number one passenger car maker, is all set to launch a new variant its most expensive car ‘SX4’. The new SX4 is claimed to be re-designed for better performance and features.
The new variant will come with a new BS4 engine having a capacity of 1.6L, which will provide better pick-up and enhanced performance.
The existing version of Maruti SX4 was launched by the company to compete with Honda City and Fiat Linea in the premium car segment.
However, the model failed to have an impact on the market. Moreover, the current model does not support the new emission standards, which will come to effect from April 2010. The new SX4 model is said to fulfill new emission terms.
The new Maruti SX4 is expected to be more expensive than the existing version. Its top end model VXi will cost Rs 7.5 lakh.
The power-packed variant of SX4 is likely to be launched in next 6-8 weeks with Bollywood superstar John Abrahan promoting the brand.
The company is also planning to launch a revived Omni model in October during the festive season.
