HCL rebranded 'MiLeap' series as 'ME' series

HCL Infosystems, Indian IT major, on Thursday, has re-branded its existing 'MiLeap' series of laptops as 'ME' series. The company has announced that it will make an investment of over Rs 50 crore in the next 2-3 years for rebranding of notebooks and netbooks.

The rebranding exercise is expected to raise company’s market share to 20 per cent. Currently, the company has a market share of about 7 per cent.

Mr. Ajai Chowdhary, HCL Infosystems Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, said that they are focusing on young customers. The ‘ME’ series is a feature series with great performance, which have all the capabilities for fulfilling the user demands. The new range of notebooks will come in seven models, and are expected to be priced between Rs 19,000 to Rs 65,000.

Mr. Chowdhary added that recently the market was down, but the last two quarters have shown the signs of recovery. The market is predicted to come up in the next three or four months.

HCL is also planning to launch new laptop models for making its hold stronger in the Indian market.
