Uttar Pradesh gets new DGP

The Uttar Pradesh government has removed Director General of Police (DGP) Vikram Singh, and the new charge has been handed over to Mr. Karamveer Singh.
However, no official reason has been mentioned behind the removal of Mr. Vikram Singh. Vikram Singh is a 1975 batch IPS officer, and had been leading the UP police force since the Mayawati govt came into power in 2007.
An official of Mayawati govt said that the decision was made by CM Mayawati in order to manage the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
On the other hand, newly appointed DGP of the state Mr. Karamveer Singh is also a 1975 batch IPS officer and recently returned to the state after a deputation at the center. He was posted there as a Special DG in Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
The opposition parties of the state were continuously charging the Mayawati government in-exchange of worse condition of law and order situation in the state.
