As per a notice issued on a telecoms department website by the central Government, the auction of much awaited 3G spectrum will take place on December 7.

The bids for the 3G spectrum will be invited from October 26 to November 13.

The notice also said that the EVDO (CDMA version of 3G) and broadband wireless access (WiMAX) would take place after two days after the auctions for 3G spectrum.

The 3G services will help user to enjoy high-speed Internet as well as video downloading on their mobile phones, which is quite difficult with 2G services. In the same way, BWA services will provide high-speed broadband services.

It is said that the central government would generate about Rs 35 billion from 3G spectrum's auction.

Earlier, the auction was set to be auctioned in January 2009 but it was delayed because the finance ministry required to reserve price twice.
