FM to try to persuade WB Govt on IT project

Moving a step forward, Indian Finance Minister, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee said that he will talk to the West Bengal government on the issue of land allocation to Wipro and Infosys to retain IT majors in the state.

During a press release, Finance Minister said, "It is unfortunate. It does not convey a good signal. I will talk to state government to see if land is provided to the companies."

He also ensured that the IT majors will provide jobs to at least 5,000 to 10,000 youths in the state.

On the other hand, State Housing minister, Gautam Deb said, "We are trying to make some arrangement so that IT giants like Wipro and Infosys can stay back in the state."

Speaking on this, Trinamool Congress Chief Mamata Banerjee called it a big 'failure' for the state government as they could not allow IT majors to set up their units in the state.
