Mumbai has become the first city in India to have high-tech CCTV observation to monitor traffic system in the city. There are about 100 traffic junctions in the city where CCTV will keep an eye on traffic.
While talking to media, Mr. Sanjay Barve, Joint Commissioner of Police traffic said, “The system shall combine the efficiency of video detection with the flexibility of PTZ (pan, tilt and zoom) cameras.”
CCTV will help to observe traffic snarls and violations, increasing road security, breakdown of signals and traffic in festivals.
Monitoring VIP movement can now be easily noted with help of CCTV cameras projecting the traffic position to the police control room.
The new advanced monitoring system will automatically detect stopped vehicles on every road. Whenever an alert is spotted, the video server will send a command to the other workstation. This system will help police to track lawbreakers.
