For the first time ever, the Common Admission Test (CAT) will be getting online.
As per the official announcement about CAT exam, it will begin from Nov 28 over a period of 10 days. A US-based firm is being appointed by the IIMs, and the firm will organize the exams through out the nation for students seeking admission in the high-status B-schools.
The test will be conducted at 30 centers including Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, New Delhi, Chennai, Kochi, Guwahati, Mumbai, Kolkata and Hyderabad. There are about 1800 seats in the seven IIMs at Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Kolkata, Indore, Kozhikode, Lucknow and Shillong.
The CAT exams will start from Nov 27 to Dec 7, and the result will be declared on the internet on January 22, which is catiim.in.
Around 2.5 lakh students appeared for the CAT exam in 2008.
The government has also decided to establish 7 more IIMs in order to fulfill the increasing demand of the management colleges. Four of them will start working from the next academic year.
