Mayawati’s second innings as BSP chief

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has once again elected as the President of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) for next three-year term.

The election for the post took place at a two-day conference of the BSP national executive, which concluded at Mayawati’s official residence.

She was first elected party chief in 2006.

It all started when party’s founder Kanshiram was in poor health and he decided to hand over his duties to Mayawati. After Kanshiram's death, Maya was elected as the leader BSP.

At present, Mayawati is doing her fourth stint as CM of India's most populous state, Uttar Pradesh.

In the party meeting, Maya addressed her party leaders, MPs and legislators from states and referred to forthcoming assembly elections in Haryana and Maharashtra.
