Shiv Sena not happy with hike in power tariff

Shiv Sena activists expressed their anger against the increase in power tariff by forcibly shutting down seven bill payment centers in South Mumbai.

During the protest, Sena leader Pandurang Sakpal said, “We are protesting against the power tariff hike which is causing lot of problems for common people.”

In the mean time, hundreds of Shiv Sainiks jammed road traffic at Girgaun in South Mumbai, all protesting against the power tariff hike.

13 Shiv Sena workers were arrested by the police during the demonstration.

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNC) chief Raj Thackeray met Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) chairman Mr. V P Raja to demand reduction of grants in power tariff given to cinema theaters, malls and construction sites of builders.

He added that more protest will took place if the demand will not be accepted by MERC.

The MNS chief would also meet state Energy Minister Sunil Tatkare on the issue.
