The hit Bollywood film ‘Kaminey’ starring Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra has run into a legal hurdle as priests of the world-famous Jagannath temple logged a FIR against its director Vishal Bharadwaj, at a police station in Puri charging that Lord Jagannath has been shown in poor light in the film.
Talking to media, Damodar Mahasuar, temple priest said, “There’s a scene in the film in which a well-known Hindi phrase, Apna haath Jagannath (self-help is best) is written on the toilet door. A photograph of a scantily-clad woman is alongside. This desecrates the image of our revered god.”
The organization has also protested in Puri and filed a memorandum before the state governor.
As per incharg of Puri police station, Sudhakar Sadu said, “An FIR has been filed in the police station saying that some scenes in 'Kaminey' have hurt religious sentiments. We have lodged a case and investigating the matter.”
