In a shocking incident, a 30-year-old women died of dengue on Thursday night at the city’s Civil Hospital.
Hospital authorities confirmed that Kanchan Thakore of Potaliyawad died of dengue.
She was admitted to the Chandramani Hospital in Shahibaug with high fever and was also suffering from severe headache.
She was later shifted to the civil hospital. Her condition was stated to be stable. Despite supportive management at the hospital, Kanchan succumbed to the disease.
Speaking on this, one of the doctors who operated Kanchan said: “Kanchan's blood tests from a private laboratory had been tested positive for dengue. She had high fever and complained of severe headache.”
Meanwhile, the health authorities in the district have taken the death seriously.
"Mostly malaria and dengue mosquitoes rear their head after monsoon. There is still some time and we have stocked up insecticides and larvicide to check mosquito breeding," said a health official.
Dengue is an acute flu-like viral disease caused by an infected mosquito bite. Dengue hemorrhagic fever is a severe, fatal complication of dengue and can even result in death.
