Indian Army, IAF hold war-game near China border
Submitted by Kamal Gupta on Fri, 10/02/2009 - 06:04With the objective to check their readiness, Indian Army as well as the Air Force carried out a joint exercise in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh near the Chinese border during the last week.
The joint exercise took place along the 4,057 km Line of Actual Control with China.
The three-day operation, which was named as ‘Operation Pralay’, comprised all the frontline fighter aircraft such as Sukhoi, Mirage-2000, MiG-29, MiG-27 and IL-78 air-to-air refueling planes.
India likely to ban Chinese-made telecom equipment
Submitted by Navjot Singh on Sun, 08/30/2009 - 07:05According to the sources, Indian Ministry of Telecommunications would organize a meeting on August 28, 2009 of telecom service providers to discuss the possible threat caused by the service providers' use of Chinese-made equipment, particularly in border regions.
Equipment from Chinese vendors are a strict no no in border states, Telecom Secretary Siddartha Behura told chief executive officers of mobile service providers comprising Airtel, Reliance, BSNL and Vodafone.
Mr. Behura also ordered them to use all necessary steps to boost nation's security.
India to apply Chinese methods to deal with air and water pollution
Submitted by Kamal Gupta on Thu, 08/27/2009 - 07:25Minister of State for Environment and Forests Jairam Ramesh, on Tuesday, has said that India is likely to imitate China for their approach to deal with air and water pollution.
China has used scientific technology and management controls to check the emission of waste gases and liquids in the environment.
Ramesh also told that China has agreed to propose India as a member of the league, which is researching on issues of climate control. This league has China, Japan and Korea as members.
29% stake in Lenovo’s Parent company for sale
Submitted by Navjot Singh on Tue, 08/11/2009 - 17:59The Chinese Academy of Sciences Holding Company, the controlling shareholder of Lenovo's parent company wants to sell its 29 percent stake in Legend Holdings.
The academy, which is controlled by state, is seeking 2.76 billion Chinese Yuan, equivalent to approximately 404 million dollars for its 29 percent stake.
At present, The Chinese Academy possesses 65 percent of Legend.
The bidder should possess no less than 4 billion Yuan of registered capital and should not be supported by foreign investors.
China’s PMI above ‘50 mark’ for third consecutive month; Asia market sentiment upbeat!

With the data indicating that China's manufacturing activity expanded in May, the market sentiment was upbeat in Asia. Though the May index dropped slightly to 53.1 from April's 53.5, CLSA PMI figures of 51.2 in May, as against 50.1 in April, marked a 10-month high!
Google Android Smartphone to be sold by HTC in China
Submitted by Supreet Mangat on Sat, 05/30/2009 - 20:13China Mobile and Taiwan's High Tech Computer (HTC) are planning to sign a deal next month for the sale of China's first mobile phone based on Google's Android software.
It has been learnt that a Chinese-language version of the Android operating system developed by HTC would be used by the handset, HTC's Magic smartphone.
Furthermore, the software will also be tweaked to meet the needs of China Mobile, the world's largest mobile carrier.
