Suzuki launches green concept cars

Suzuki is all set to launch its SX4-FCV (fuel-cell vehicle) car.

The company will introduce Suzuki Swift, a plug-in hybrid version car, and a hydrogen-powered SX4. These two cars will be introduced by the company at Tokyo Auto show this year. Both cars will be the center of attraction at the auto show.

Kawasaki Ninja 250R launched in Indian market

Kawasaki Bajaj is all set introduce its new model of sports bike named ‘Ninja 250R’ in the Indian market. The new sports bike will be available in the market at the price tag around Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 2 lakh. Bookings for the new sports will start from Diwali and deliveries will be made immediately by the company.

The new Ninja has 249cc four-stroke engine, 32 bhp, DOHC, liquid cooled parallel twin draped in green, with a claimed fuel consumption of 42.5 kpl. The spares will be imported from Japan and Thailand.

Mercedes aims to overcome BMW in India

Mercedes Benz, a German car maker company, aims to get back its top ranking in the premium luxury car segment in India. Currently, BMW leads the Indian market with its latest products range.

Moreover, Mercedes Benz also faces strong competition from new participants like Jaguar and Audi in India. These new car maker companies are also making their presence felt by their products in the market.

Nissan disclosed sketch of its Compact Car

Japanese car-maker, Nissan Motor has finally disclosed the first sketch of its global compact car. The company has planned to manufacture its first ever compact car in five countries including India, Thailand and China. The company has not announced the names of other two countries.

The company also said that the production of its new compact car will start in May 2010 in India. The car will be manufactured at a Nissan Plant opening shortly at Oragadam in Chennai.

Skoda Auto India sold 1854 units in Sep

Czech luxury car maker, Skoda Auto India has announced a growth of 53% in its sales during September 2009. As reported by the company, it has sold out as many as 1,854 units during the month. The company had sold only 1, 213 units in same period last year.

GM joins India's Reva to make electric car

General Motors Co, US-based automaker, has joined hands with India’s Reva Electric Car Co. to develop a small and affordable electronic car for the Indian market. The production of the electric car will start from 2010.

Talking to media, Mr. Cheatan Maini, deputy chairman of Reva said, “Our unique collaboration has the potential to result in far-reaching changes for the industry.” He said that the company likes to take India to a global level for the development and manufacturing of electric cars.

Nissan to unveil Z370 sports car in India by 2010

Nissan Motor has announced that it would introduce its new sports car ‘Z370’ in the Indian market by 2010.

Talking to media, Mr. G M Singh, Vice-Chairman of Hover Automotive India, said, “Nissan will launch its sports car Z370 in the Indian market and is expected to be rolled out in January 2010.”

Mr. Singh added, “Though the market for sports car in India is limited now, but we think over a period of time, the market for such cars will increase.”

Maruti Suzuki to launch new power-packed variant of SX4

Maruti Suzuki, India’s number one passenger car maker, is all set to launch a new variant its most expensive car ‘SX4’. The new SX4 is claimed to be re-designed for better performance and features.

The new variant will come with a new BS4 engine having a capacity of 1.6L, which will provide better pick-up and enhanced performance.

The existing version of Maruti SX4 was launched by the company to compete with Honda City and Fiat Linea in the premium car segment.

Bajaj Auto unveils RE600 cargo carrier

Bajaj Auto has introduced its new RE600 cargo vehicle in the Indian market. Priced at Rs 1.04 lakh, the new RE600 is developed by the company’s Research and Development team.

During the launch of new cargo carrier, Mr. R C Maheshwari, CEO of Bajaj Auto said, “With the launch of this vehicle, we are meeting the needs of those customers with payloads up to 600 kg and are not willing to pay high operating and fixed costs.”

Tata uncovers its new ‘Freelander 2’ in India

Land Rover, a unit of Tata Motor, launched the highly acclaimed ‘Freelander 2’ in the Indian market. The new launched vehicle has joined the group of vehicles, which were unveiled by the company in June this year, including Discovery 4, the quintessential sports tourer, the Range Rover Sport and the ultimate luxury 4x4, the Range Rover.
